BREAKING NEWS!!!
The Maryland State Lacrosse Coaches’ Association (MSLCA) is excited to announce some changes to what was formerly the FREESTATE Tryouts. Since the late 1990's the MSLCA has sponsored a tryout or showcase event to offer high school players and affordable and fair tryout/showcase opportunity. In the past the event was referred to as the FREESTATE Tryouts. The event is now called the FREESTATE SHOWCASE. Similar to the FREESTATE tryouts this progressive SHOWCASE event features game play giving each individual player the opportunity to showcase their talents for the evaluators and college coaches. This year's MSLCA FREESTATE SHOWCASE is open to any interested player in the 2026, 2027, and 2028 classes. The FREESTATE SHOWCASE is NOT limited to players from Maryland high schools. Any interested player may register; this includes players from neighboring DC, VA, PA, DE as well as players that may be coming into the area for other lacrosse events.
The MSLCA FREESTATE SHOWCASE will accept player nominations from high school coaches as well as club coaches. The nomination process is free and easy!
This year's FREESATE SHOWCASE will offer two different divisions. The 2027/2028 UNDERCLASS Division is for any uncommitted players in the 2027 or 2028 classes. With the new recruiting rules this is a can’t miss event for any 2026/2027 player serious about playing in college. The 2026 RISING SENIOR Division will be focused on uncommitted players in the 2026 class. The 2026 RISING SENIOR Division will have a heavy emphasis as a D2/D3 Showcase as well as DI coaches still looking to fill out their recruiting classes. With the later start (9/1) to the recruiting calendar this is a prime opportunity for the Class of 2026 uncommitted players to be seen by college coaches.
The FREESTATE SHOWCASE is a can’t miss event for any Mid-Atlantic player looking to play in college.
Similar to the former Freestate Tryouts the FREESTATE SHOWCASE will offer each player with a day one showcase with the opportunity to get invited back for a second SHOWCASE featuring the best players from Day 1 in the FREESTATE RISING SENIOR and UNDERCLASS TOP 44 GAMES.
All registered players will receive a tryout jersey to be worn throughout the entire process.
Please see the FREESTATE page (from the top bar links) for more information.
Nomination and Player Registration info. and links can be found below on this page.
***INCLUDED in the registration price for the FREESTATE SHOWCASE is free game film from the showcase games for every player. All FREESTATE games will be able to be streamed by any college coaches that are not able to attend. Additionally, all FREESTATE SHOWCASE players will have FREE access to all game film from the entire showcase. Other tournaments charge hundreds of dollars for this film. The MSLCA has included this in the cost of the FREESTATE SHOWCASE event which is already one of the most inexpensive showcase events anywhere.

Tick Neck Park/Northeast HS
7750 Edwin Raynor Blvd.
Pasadena, MD 21122
*use the Tick Neck Park entrance and take the first right toward the NHS Stadium.
Games will begin at 8:00am
**All players need to arrive before 7:25am in order to get team and jersey assignments.
**Weather permitting, all games should be completed by 3pm
All players should report to the Northeast HS stadium entrance to check in. The players will need to check the posted lists to find their tryout jersey number. Players then proceed to the turf just inside the track to get their jersey WITH THE CORRECT #. The players will then report to the main stadium bleachers (parking lot side). There is no other check-in process other than checking the posted list and getting the correct jersey. Players will be hear a brief welcome announcement and proceed to the field of their first game. All players must bring all necessary equipment including mouthpiece (and a back-up stick just in case!). Each player should plan for the day’s schedule with any food/water/Gatorade, etc. needed throughout the day while not playing. Think of it as a similar format to the first day of a club tournament in pool play. Players must arrive with enough water for the entire day. There will be limited water available on the fields. We will have Athletic Trainers on each field. Each team will play one game on each of the showcase fields. Keep in mind, the one thing we cannot control is the weather. If we have inclement weather the MSLCA reserves the right to modify the schedule as needed. We will play if there is rain and will only suspend play in the event of lightning within 8 miles. Once a player’s last game has completed they may leave and go home, there is no need to wait around after the last game. The jersey numbers of those chosen for the Weds., June 4th FREESTATE TOP 44 games will be posted on the MSLCA FREESTATE SHOWCASE WEBSITE www.freestatelacrosse.com by the evening of Monday, June 2nd.
